Information & Technology BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate
Course type: Level 2 Diplomas • Awarding/exam body: Edexcel
Equivalent to 3 GCSEs.
On this course, students will learn how IT operates in business and industry and they will be able to apply these ideas in a series of assignments and projects. These include doing research into how computers are used and using software packages to write reports and make presentations. The course can be taken while re-sitting Maths and English GCSEs.

Assessment will be carried out by teaching staff and the grades will then be sent to Edexcel for moderation. Some units will be assessed through externally assessed examination.
Successful completion offers students several routes for progression: direct entry into employment within business/industry further learning opportunities within employment progression to Level 3 of a vocational qualification in the same or a related area e.g. BTEC Level 3 Ext Diploma in IT.
4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (including Grade 3 in English Language and Maths).
